PROGRAM NOTES:

when / all / refuse is a setting of a text I created by breaking up text of the Old Testament into fragments, then recombining those fragments filtered by their inclusion of the words “when”, “all”, and “refuse”. In creating this text I have attempted to intimate the original meaning of the text without ever presenting a complete sentence. Breaking up the text in this way was my attempt to allow the listener to “fill in the gaps” between the fragments and to impart their own meaning into the text. When I experience the newly created text, I find myself less concerned with specific meaning behind the words, leaving space for an undiluted glimpse into a small portion of the Bible. when / all / refuse was written for and is dedicated to Rebekah Mansfield.
